SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF BUS DRIVERS: Responsible for safe and orderly transportation of students with/without disabilities on assigned route. Operate a school bus, minibus/van that transports students with and without disabilities and other authorized personnel to and from schools or designated locations.

EQUIPMENT USED: School bus, Mini bus or light van, wheelchair lift ramp, locks, seatbelts, harnesses, car seats, special adaptive equipment, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs), fire extinguisher.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control. Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions; pushing, pulling, moderate lifting. Work inside and outside; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
TERMS: Up to 30 hours per week with the potential for more. This is a benefit eligible position. Additional weekend/evening work may be available. Terms per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year as a school bus driver preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Assist SPED students, including those in wheelchairs, to and from bus as needed.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work flexible hours including some evening and weekend work.
Effective July 1, 2013 the successful candidate will be subject to a national background check (fingerprint) in accordance with Massachusetts law.
