• Performs pre-operation vehicle checks for defects.
• Notifies authorities in case of mechanical issues or lateness.
• Discharges students at authorized stops and ensures safety on trips.

The Transportation Garage is located at 2 A Industrial Drive, Berwick, ME 03901. MSAD #35/RSU #35 district provides transportation for students in Eliot, South Berwick and depending on position may include other driving areasdependent on student transportation needs.

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Holds a valid driver's license for operation of the class vehicle and has at least one year's experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator:

Is at least 21 years of age and has held a driver's license for at least one year;

DOT Medical Card Annual Physical;

Safety and driver training provided by the district; and

Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check certificate eligibility required

• Checks bus and/or van before each operation for mechanical defects.
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops.
• Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
• Transports only authorized students.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus/van.
