Job summary

Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) is hiring a Bus Assistant to accompany the Bus Driver and ensure safe transport of children. You will help supervise children, load/unload, verify authorized drop-offs, and maintain a safe, educational bus environment.

Qualifications

• No prior education or experience required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Bus Driver in transporting children safely on the school bus.
• Supervise children and ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised.
• Load and unload children safely from the school bus.
• Verify that children enter/exit with authorized persons.
• Ensure children are buckled in appropriate car seats or seat belts.
• Distribute belongings to the appropriate person after transport.
• Maintain vehicle capacity requirements.
• Keep the bus clean and well-maintained.
• Participate in children’s transportation safety education.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation.
• Monitor behavior for safety and educational activities on the bus.
• Assist in transitions into the center and home.
• Provide a pleasant bus ride with singing and activities.
• Apply positive behavioral strategies to reduce conflicts.
• Provide water or relief on hot days.
