Job summary

OWEGO-APALACHIN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking a School Bus Aide to assist the driver in transporting students safely to and from school. You will help with loading/unloading, supervising students, and reporting concerns to the driver and building staff.

The role requires basic educational credentials (high school diploma or equivalent) and may involve prior experience with students with special needs. This position is non-exempt and supports a critical daily service in our transportation

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• College coursework or passing of required exam as per ESSA
• Prior experience with special needs children desirable

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver in loading and unloading passengers safely
• Know the proper use of securing devices for safety restraints, wheelchairs and seat belts
• Maintain student discipline and supervise students in transit
• Report concerns regarding students to the driver and building staff
• Learn the bus route and provide route information to support substitutes or new drivers
• Occupy a seat that allows for optimal student supervision while the bus is in motion
