Job summary

Beacon Mobility is seeking a School Bus Aide to assist students with boarding and disembarking, and to support the driver with passenger management on routes in the Catskills region. You will report incidents, cooperate with school officials, and ensure student safety through the route and during releases to approved guardians.

Training is provided, with a 6-hour paid pre-service and ongoing skill development.

Qualifications

• Background checks and government documents required for working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Provide valid forms of ID for employment.
• References: allow contact of three references.
• History of residential addresses must be provided on file.
• Authorization for background checks in accordance with regulations.
• Pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol test conducted by independent entity.
• Demonstrate ability to perform emergency procedures and evacuations.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in safely boarding and disembarking from the school bus.
• Work with the bus driver on passenger management and safety.
• Report incidents to appropriate personnel and document when required.
• Assist in releasing students to approved individuals.
• Cross students when necessary and assist in back-up procedures.
