Job summary

OWEGO-APALACHIN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT in Town of Owego, NY seeks a Substitute School Bus Driver to safely transport students and staff on district routes and field trips, following schedules and safety rules.

CDL Class B with Passenger and School Bus endorsement is required; High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, fueling and cleaning, maintaining discipline, and completing records.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, road signs and related information.
• Manual dexterity to operate the bus, conduct pre-trip inspections, and clean the bus.
• Visual and auditory acuity within normal ranges, with correction if needed.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn and follow procedures and traffic signs.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives a school bus on designated routes and times, loading/unloading students.
• Transports students and staff on field trips and activities.
• Inspects bus daily and ensures safe, clean conditions.
• Maintains order and discipline among students in accordance with district policies.
• Completes records and reports as required and participates in drills.
