Job summary

Rolling V Bus Corp. in New York State is seeking a School Bus Aide to assist students with safe boarding and alighting and to work with the driver on passenger management.

You will communicate with parents/guardians and school officials and report incidents observed on the route. Applicants must complete NYS and Federal documents, pass background checks, undergo a pre-enrollment physical and drug/alcohol test, and perform a 6-hour paid pre-service training.

Qualifications

• New Hire Packet: NYS and Federal documents, including background checks, required for working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Identification: Provide valid forms of ID for employment.
• References: Permit the company to contact three provided references.
• Other Documentation: Provide a history of residential addresses.
• Background Investigation Review: Authorization required for background checks, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, School, and Company regulations.
• Pre-Enrollment Physical & Drug/Alcohol Test: Conducted by an independent entity and paid for by Rolling V Bus.
• Physical Performance Test: Demonstrate the ability to climb and descend bus steps, quickly exit from a seated position, exit through the rear emergency door, and lift 125 lb.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in boarding and disembarking from the school bus.
• Participate with bus driver in passenger management.
• Communicate with parent/guardians and school officials.
• In cooperation with the driver, observe incidents and report on route.
• Assist in releasing students to approved individuals.
• Cross students when required to move from one side of the street to the other.
• Assist driver in backing-up procedures as needed.
• Act in emergencies according to training provided.
• Maintain good people skills and be courteous and respectful.
