Job summary

Edenton-Chowan Schools seeks a Behavior Liaison Specialist to coordinate specialized support for grant-identified students, partnering with families and staff to apply positive behavior supports and address needs. The role focuses on prevention, FBA/BIP development, and data-driven interventions.

The specialist will provide professional development and collaborate with EC staff, serving as a key IEP team member and coordinating wrap-around services to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in mental health, psychology, or related area.
• Experience with children/adolescents with disabilities.
• Knowledge of current behavioral intervention strategies in educational settings.
• CPR/First‑Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention certification within 10 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist identified students with alternative communication methods and positive behavior strategies.
• Model social skills development and provide peer facilitation and training.
• Participate in development and implementation of behavioral plans by the IEP team.
• Monitor students and record observational and direct service data for academics and behavior.
• Assist with development of behavioral plans, programs, assessments, and data analysis.
• Serve as an IEP team member for identified students.
• Recommend changes to behavior plans or classroom management based on data.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and community resources.
