Job summary

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist (EC) to provide direct and consultative support for students with behavioral and social-emotional needs across several schools. This itinerant role reports to the Autism and Behavior Team Lead and collaborates with the Director of Psychological and Support Services.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator license or related field.
• Minimum of three years experience with students with behavior/SEL needs in various instructional settings.
• Preferred CPI, de-escalation methods, BCBA/BCaBA or related evidence-based interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative support to students with behavioral needs across multiple schools.
• Coach staff on data collection and implementation of FBAs and BIPs.
• Support development of IEP goals, transitions, and accommodations.
• Assist in creating structured environments with evidence-based strategies.
• Collaborate with district and school teams to monitor student progress and outcomes.
• Deliver professional development and training to staff on behavioral strategies.
