Job summary

Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist (EC) to provide direct and consultative support for students with behavioral and social-emotional needs across several schools. This itinerant role reports to the Autism and Behavior Team Lead and collaborates with the Director of Psychological and Support Services.

The position emphasizes evidence-based practices, data collection, and coaching staff in implementing Behavior Intervention Plans and FBAs, with a 10-month

Qualifications

Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator license or related field.
Minimum of three years experience with students with behavior/SEL needs in various instructional settings.
Preferred CPI, de-escalation methods, BCBA/BCaBA or related evidence-based interventions.

Responsibilities

Provide direct and consultative support to students with behavioral needs across multiple schools.
Coach staff on data collection and implementation of FBAs and BIPs.
Support development of IEP goals, transitions, and accommodations.
Assist in creating structured environments with evidence-based strategies.
Collaborate with district and school teams to monitor student progress and outcomes.
Deliver professional development and training to staff on behavioral strategies.
