Job summary

Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) seeks a Violence Interruption Specialist to be a trusted on-campus presence at Rudsdale High School in Oakland, CA. You will identify at-risk students, help de-escalate conflicts, and support campus safety with a trauma-informed approach.

You will maintain regular contact with students, coordinate with school staff, and run healing-centered programs while upholding BACR’s commitment to inclusive, equitable education and community wellbeing.

Qualifications

• College degree required (social work, psychology, public health, or a related field preferred).
• Experience working with justice-involved or high-risk youth highly preferred.
• Basic computer skills including email, data entry, and case management software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of at-risk youth and monitor safety over time.
• Maintain a visible, trusted presence on campus during school hours.
• Identify at-risk students through daily engagement and referrals from staff.
• Record case notes and safety plans in BACR's case management system after incidents.
• Mediate conflicts and de-escalate tensions to prevent violence.
• Coordinate with school administration during incidents and support reintegration after suspensions.
• Lead healing-centered groups monthly and organize restorative events each semester.
• Conduct outreach including home visits to reach isolated students.
• Coordinate with on-site mental health providers to support student wellbeing.
