Job summary

The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) seeks a School Outreach Worker – Violence Interrupter to engage youth at schools and in the community. You will assess needs, connect clients to behavioral health and intervention services, and coordinate referrals with internal staff for counseling and case management.

This full-time non-exempt role requires violence-prevention work, strong communication, and collaboration with local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field, or at least two years of street outreach, conflict mediation, and crisis response.
• Experience with San Francisco’s diverse communities and neighborhoods.
• Knowledge of the SF Criminal Justice System and SFUSD system.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities and proficient computer skills.
• Strong organizational, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
• Able to lift or move at least 25 lbs.
• Bilingual in Cantonese or Mandarin and English preferred.
• Ability to work some evenings, weekends, and outdoor activities.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean DMV record for insurance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular outreach services in schools and streets to raise visibility in SF neighborhoods.
• Provide holistic, culturally competent services to victims and their families.
• Collaborate with other CYC programs and community providers for comprehensive services.
• Provide mediation for community conflicts and facilitate reintegration meetings.
• Organize cross-cultural training to address interracial tension and promote healing.
• Attend required trainings, team meetings, and community meetings.
• Build cooperative relationships with law enforcement, families, and partners.
• Maintain case notes and monthly progress reports for grants.
• Coordinate events and activities promoting violence prevention in the AAPI community.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
