Job summary

The School-Based Therapist provides behavioral health assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services to children and adolescents within the school setting.

The therapist collaborates with students, families, school personnel, healthcare providers, and community agencies to improve emotional well‑being, reduce barriers to learning, and promote academic success through evidence‑based behavioral health interventions.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a behavioral health field is preferred.
• Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families preferred.
• School-based or community behavioral health experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct behavioral health assessments and participate in diagnostic evaluations as appropriate.
• Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual, family, and group therapy.
• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning.
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and community providers.
• Provide psychoeducation to students and families.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
• Complete treatment plan reviews, outcome measures, and discharge documentation.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case consultation.
• Meet productivity and quality expectations.
• Participate in supervision, training, and quality improvement.
• Comply with HIPAA, FERPA, Medicaid, and agency policies.
