Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking a Special Education Speech-Language Pathologist for Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, MI. The role focuses on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders to support student learning and social-emotional development.

You will work with IEP teams, provide therapy to students in grades K-8, and contribute to assessments, documentation, and district reporting. Michigan SLP license and master’s degree required; CCC-SLP preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current Michigan Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by LARA.
• CCC-SLP preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance preferred.
• Experience providing speech-language evaluations and delivering therapy to school-age students.
• Strong communication and teamwork in a growth-focused coaching environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook.
• Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality speech-language therapy to K-8 students in Highland Park, MI.
• Conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports on motor speech, language, literacy, and dysphagia.
• Develop strength-based, family-centered treatment plans.
• Ensure IEP and evaluation procedures align with district/state/federal guidelines.
• Collect data and adapt treatment based on progress trends.
• Attend IEP and Evaluation meetings and document findings promptly.
• Collaborate with teachers and the educational team.
• Align goals with Common Core standards in treatment objectives.
• Create and communicate daily schedules to leaders and supervisors.
• Attend staff meetings and pursue ongoing professional development.
• Support student communication across all language modes.
• Participate in building-based interventions and reporting.
• Develop proficiency in district software for compliance reporting.
