Job summary

Birch Family Services is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist to support students in New York City schools. You will implement IEP goals, assess sensory and motor skills, and collaborate with educators to promote participation in classroom activities.

Responsibilities include observations, documentation, staff training, developing developmentally graded activities, supervising interns, and participating in IEP conferences. A state licensure and OTCB certification are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Minimum of six months of supervised experience; prefer 1-3 years of related work experience.
• OT must be licensed and certified by the Occupational Therapy Certification Board (OTCB) after successful completion of the national certification exam.

Responsibilities

• Observation and monitoring of new students and reference to evaluation when necessary.
• Develop staff development and parent workshop opportunities related to gross motor, fine motor, and perceptual skills.
• Implement IEP goals to enhance learning potential and participation in educational environments.
• Submit quarterly and annual progress reports and maintain required documentation.
• Explain findings and program aims to parents and recommend activities for increased independence.
