Job summary
SWLA Center for Health Services seeks a Nurse Practitioner for Carencro Middle School to deliver ambulatory care in a school-based health setting. The NP will work with physicians, perform exams, prescribe under protocols, and coordinate patient care with the multidisciplinary team.
The role requires LA licensure, DEA, and ongoing CEU maintenance, with responsibilities including policy development and quality improvement activities within the center.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing or NP program recognized by the LSBN.
- Advanced or graduate nursing degree or APRN certification with CEU requirements.
- Current, unrestricted LA nursing and APRN license.
- Experience in writing policies and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Responsibilities
- Obtain comprehensive medical history from patients or families.
- Prescribe medications per SWLA protocols and explain treatment plans.
- Assess and monitor patient health status and outcomes.
- Perform complete physical examinations.
- Order routine labs and imaging as per standing orders.
- Consult with physicians and other health professionals as needed.
- Lead team initiatives and coordinate with the Chief Health Officer.
