Qualifications

• Current Licensure through the LA State Board of Nursing by the LA Medical Board or the ability to obtain licensure prior to employment
• Valid DEA license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment
• BLS obtained by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with health care providers; be accountable for knowledge of statutes and rules relating to advanced practice
• Practice within the advanced specialty and role appropriate to APN training
• Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage illnesses in hospital, clinic or outpatient settings
• Prescribe medications and supportive therapies to maintain health
• Provide patient and family education on preventive care and treatments
• Work with medical staff in consultation, collaboration, and referral as needed
• Synthesize new knowledge from conferences and literature; teach others in clinical settings
• Prepare statistical reports and maintain confidential medical records
