Job summary

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh seeks a Mentoring Specialist to mentor students in an embedded school-based setting. The role focuses on reducing risky behaviors, building social-emotional skills, and fostering a sense of belonging.

You will lead weekly sessions, recruit participants, monitor data, and maintain compliant records in partnership with BBBSPGH staff and schools. This is a school-based, on-site position with regular hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to social work, counseling, social services, child development, or education.
• Associate’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant work experience in social work, counseling, social services, child development, or education.
• High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in social work, counseling, social services, child development, or education.
• Previous experience working in a school setting preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly group and one-on-one mentoring sessions using a structured curriculum.
• Assist with recruitment and enrollment of Littles during the school year and summertime.
• Utilize student data around behavior, attendance, academics, and surveys to improve programming.
• Communicate with families, school staff, and program teams and engage in the school environment.
• Maintain accurate records with adherence to child safety protocols and funding requirements.
• Operate within BBBSPGH and BBBSA expectations and standards.
