Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse in the school health setting. The successful candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology, familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC), and a completed MA certificate or equivalent; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Must understand medical terminology and basic clinical workflows.
• Experience in healthcare settings is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC or similar) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interface with patients and families and support providers and school staff.
• Prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, and assist with phlebotomy as needed.
• Document care accurately in the school medical record.
• Collect and process laboratory specimens per policy.
• Assist with routine clinical duties such as POCT and screenings.
• Perform general office tasks as needed.
