Job summary

Akron Children’s Hospital is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under the direction of a Provider or licensed Nurse. The role includes preparing patients, taking vital signs, performing phlebotomy, and administering medications per policy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Assistant Certificate Program required; prior credit for experience if hired before Mar 2023.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.
• No prior experience required; relevant experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients and families at Akron Children's Hospitals.
• Prepares patients for examination; takes vital signs; phlebotomy; administers meds as directed.
• Collects data for assessment and discharge planning under supervision.
• Collects and processes laboratory specimens per policy.
• Communicates findings to Providers/Nurses and documents accordingly.
• Maintains accurate documentation in the school medical record.
• Performs department-specific clinical duties (POCT, vision/hearing screenings).
• Fulfills routine clerical duties (faxing, filing, etc.).
• Cleans and stocks exam rooms; supports care delivery in a safe environment.
• Develops positive relationships with patients, families, school personnel, and colleagues.
