Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse in a school health setting.

Responsibilities include preparing patients, recording vitals, phlebotomy as needed, data collection for care plans, and accurate documentation in the school medical record. Onsite, part-time schedule with collaboration across school staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Healthcare experience is preferred.
• Experience using Microsoft Office or similar software is required.
• EPIC or similar EMR experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and families in the school setting.
• Prepare patients for examination and record vital signs.
• Perform phlebotomy as needed and assist with medications per policy.
• Collect and process data for assessment and discharge planning.
• Submit laboratory specimens per policy and procedure.
• Document care accurately in the school medical record.
• Perform department-specific clinical duties such as POCT and screenings.
• Handle routine office tasks (faxing, copying, filing) as needed.
• Maintain examination rooms by cleaning and stocking supplies.
• Foster positive relationships with patients, families, and staff.
• Complete assignments within scheduled hours.
• Follow safety policies to ensure a safe care environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
