Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for students under the direction of a Provider or licensed Nurse in a school health setting.

The role includes preparing students for examinations, taking vital signs, phlebotomy as needed, collecting data for care plans, and accurate documentation in the school health record, while maintaining clean exam rooms and collaborating with school staff.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Healthcare setting experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) required.
• EPIC or similar EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively interfaces with patients and families in the school setting.
• Prepares patients for examination; records vital signs; performs phlebotomy as needed.
• Collects data for assessment and discharge planning under supervision.
• Collects, processes and submits laboratory specimens per policy.
• Documents clinical care accurately in the school health record.
• Maintains exam rooms and supports routine clinic tasks.
