Job summary

YAI is looking for a Music Therapist to join their team in New York, NY. This role involves providing therapeutic interventions for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Music Therapist will lead group and individual therapy sessions using creative art therapies to support students' growth and goals.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Creative Arts Therapist license from NYSED and at least two years of clinical experience. A commitment to an empathic and collaborative approach is crucial.

Qualifications

• Valid license and current registration as a Creative Arts Therapist issued by NYSED.
• Registration and/or Board Certification as applicable for the area of specialization.
• At least two years of experience in a clinical capacity in area of specialization.
• Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of various art modalities.
• Highly flexible personality and excellent observational skills.
• Empathetic and creative team player passionate about working with children.

Responsibilities

• Conduct music therapy groups for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with teachers and service providers on treatment plans.
• Develop and adapt therapy activities for student engagement.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress effectively.
• Provide supervision to interns or individuals with limited permits.
