Job summary

YAI - Seeing beyond disability is seeking a Music Therapist to assess, plan and deliver therapeutic interventions using music, dance/movement, drama, poetry, and art therapy for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

You will lead groups and individual sessions, collaborate with classroom staff, and adapt programs to meet diverse needs while supporting academic and social-emotional goals.

Qualifications

• Valid license and current registration as a Creative Arts Therapist (NYSED).
• At least two years of experience in a clinical capacity in area of specialization (art, music, dance, etc.).
• Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts music therapy groups and individual sessions for school-aged students with I/DD or multiple disabilities.
• Collaborates with teachers and related service providers to develop or integrate personalized treatment plans.
• Develops and coordinates safe creative arts therapy activities aligned with students’ needs and goals.
• Documents progress and prepares reports on therapy sessions and student progress.
