Job summary

Brightli in Independence, MO is seeking a School Based Navigator to connect students and families with behavioral health services within a collaborative team. The role focuses on referrals, intake, insurance coordination, and service linkage, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a full-time commitment to confidentiality and student well-being.

The position emphasizes coordinated care, strong communication, and partnership with schools and community resources to support access to services for youth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Understanding of mental health systems and school-based service models.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with documentation, electronic records, and telephone-based engagement.
• Knowledge of community resources and the ability to coordinate support services.
• Ability to manage referrals, records, deadlines, and multiple priorities accurately and efficiently.
• Successful completion of required background screenings, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks.
• Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Connect students and families with behavioral health services via referrals, initiate family contact, and respond within three business days.
• Guide families through Medicaid eligibility screening and application, verify private insurance benefits, and explore funding options when needed.
• Coordinate intake appointments with school-based therapists and connect students to appropriate access points.
• Partner with schools and community agencies to link families with resources, including crisis services when indicated.
• Promote continuity of care by completing ongoing insurance checks and updating paperwork to maintain eligibility.
• Manage intake and compliance documentation, ensuring records are complete and filed electronically.
• Collaborate with Billing, Health Information Management, Quality, and other teams to complete non-billable tasks on time.
• Support school-based team by answering calls, documenting non-billable calls, and maintaining clinical records.
• Protect student and family information by following privacy and confidentiality requirements.
• Contribute to program quality by following operational guidelines and CARF-aligned standards.
• Participate in required training, team meetings, and professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned
