Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Completion of 40-hour ABA Modules within 90 days of hire.
  • Prior training in non-violent crisis intervention methods preferred.
  • Previous experience working with students with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral challenges is required.
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis principles and methods.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in challenging situations.
  • Passion for working with children and supporting their academic and behavioral development.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative school setting.
  • Ability to assist with physical activities such as sitting on the floor, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to respond to student behaviors in a safe and effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Implement BIPs in the school environment under supervision of BCBA/teacher/Behavior Specialist.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support during academic and non-academic activities.
  • Use evidence-based strategies to teach social, communication, and daily living skills.
  • Collect and record data on student behavior and track progress with graphing.
  • Work with teachers and school staff to integrate behavior strategies.
  • Support students by implementing fading supports to increase independence.
  • Monitor student behavior and apply interventions based on BIP procedures.
  • Participate in meetings with other professionals for coordinated care.
  • Provide behavior support in structured and unstructured settings (recess, lunch, transitions).
  • Maintain student confidentiality and adhere to school policies.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
