Job summary

Amergis, formerly Maxim Healthcare Staffing, seeks a School Sign Language Interpreter to support deaf or hard-of-hearing students in Winchester, VA. The interpreter will translate between ASL and spoken language to facilitate classroom instruction and activities.

Qualifications include ASL proficiency and an associate or bachelor's degree in interpreting or related field; EIPA or RID certifications may be required depending on state rules. CPR and health clearances are also expected.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language.
• Associates or Bachelors degree in interpreting, deaf studies or related field preferred.
• Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate as applicable per state regulation or client requirement.
• RID certification as applicable per state regulation or client requirement.
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR and health certificate as applicable.
• Must meet federal, state and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others in an educational setting.
• Interpret spoken language into sign language and sign language into spoken language during instruction and activities.
