Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking a School Age Intern to supervise children and support daily care in a safe, loving environment. The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate activities, positive behavior management, and collaboration with staff and parents.

Applicants must meet licensing requirements, complete health and background screenings, and be at least 16 years old. Flexibility for morning and afternoon shifts is preferred to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and meet licensing requirements.
• Complete a physical and tuberculosis screening and provide physician documentation within 30 days of hire.
• Criminal history, child abuse and adult abuse background checks as required by Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and activities with safe, developmentally appropriate practices.
• Provide daily care including feeding and supporting social/emotional needs.
• Encourage participation in classroom activities and transitions.
• Implement positive behavior management techniques.
• Assist in planning and participating in age-appropriate activities to support learning.
• Observe and document children's progress and development.
