Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking a School Age Intern to supervise children, provide daily care, and support development in a safe, welcoming environment at our Rehoboth Beach location. The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate practices and collaboration with staff and families.

Minimum qualifications include being at least 16, optional college credits or 15 hours training in school-age care, background checks, and the ability to manage groups.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old to meet licensing requirements.
• Complete a physical and TB screening with physician documentation within 30 days.
• Criminal and child abuse background checks as required by Delaware.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and activities with safe, developmentally appropriate practices.
• Provide daily care including feeding and supporting social/emotional needs.
• Engage in classroom activities, meals, transitions, and gross motor tasks.
• Observe and document child progress and development.
• Communicate with staff and parents to foster collaboration and participation.
• Ensure facilities and equipment are clean, maintained, and safe daily.
