Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Staff for our After School Programs within the Birmingham School District for the 2026–2027 school year. This part-time, non-exempt role follows the school calendar with an afternoon shift from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

You will facilitate hands-on activities, foster a safe and engaging environment, and support student growth while collaborating with families and teammates in a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience working with kids preferred.
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, per state regulations.
• Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, etc.) and homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children.
• Observe state guidelines, program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, including attendance records, registration, and staffing tasks.

Multiple Schools within the Birmingham Alabama School District

PAY:

$15.00 per hour

SCHEDULE

Follows the school calendar

Afternoon Program: Monday - Friday, 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 1 year of experience working with kids under 13 preferred
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
