Job summary

ARC is hiring an entry-level School-Age Care Counselor to assist and lead daily curriculum activities for a class of children ages 5-12 in Seattle. The role supports social and emotional growth and helps maintain a 1:10 staff-to-child ratio to ensure safety and accountability.

Primarily based at John Muir Elementary School with after-school hours, up to 23 hours per week during the school year, with possible summer work.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.
• MMR vaccination record, tuberculosis (TB) testing, MERIT Portable Background Check, and Washington State Food Worker Card are required after being hired.

Responsibilities

• Assists and leads in daily curriculum activities with children ages 5-12.
• Models appropriate behavior and supports social and emotional growth.
• Helps maintain a 1:10 staff to child ratio to ensure safety and accountability.
• Collaborates with ARC School-Age Care staff and receives guidance from the Director.

Level: Entry, Job Location: John Muir Elementary School - Seattle, WA 98144, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $22.00 - $25.30 Hourly, Position Type:Part-time, non-exempt (hourly, eligible for overtime)

Estimated Start Date:As soon as possible

Starting pay: $22.00/hr.

Full Pay Range: $22.00-25.30/hr. (the employee in this position could earn up to $25.30/hr. with additional years of employment)

Location

John Muir Elementary School -3301 S Horton St, Seattle, WA 98144

Primary location is Rainier Community Center, but the program is delivered out of John Muir Elementary School

Schedule

• Monday-Friday during after-school hours, up to 23 hours per week during the school year
• May work summers as well
• Due to your schedule, you can work some or all of these days; please let us know
• Schedules may vary based on availability and program needs

School-Age Care Counselor Duties

• Assists and leads in the application of daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5-12 years old.
• Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth.
• Helps ensure a ratio of 1:10 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and always accounted for.
• Collaborates with and supports fellow School-Age Care staff and receives guidance, coaching, and direction from the ARC School-Age Care Director.

School-Age Care Counselor Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.
• MMR vaccination record, tuberculosis (TB) testing, MERIT Portable Background Check, and Washington State Food Worker Cardare required after being hired as required by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).(ARC will assist you through these requirements and pay the fees associated with the TB testing.)
