Job summary

ARC is seeking an entry-level School-Age Care Counselor to join the after-school program at High Point Community Center in Seattle. You will assist and lead daily curriculum activities for children aged 5-12, model appropriate behavior, and help maintain a safe staff-to-child ratio.

Ideal candidates are 18+, have a high school diploma, and can complete required health and background checks. This part-time, non-exempt role offers holiday pay and benefits listed in the description.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.
• Background checks: MMR vaccination, TB testing, MERIT Portable Background Check, and WA State Food Worker Card after hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist and lead daily curriculum activities for children ages 5–12.
• Model appropriate behavior and support social and emotional growth.
• Help maintain a staff-to-child ratio of approximately 1:10 to ensure safety and accountability.
• Collaborate with ARC School-Age Care Director and fellow staff.

Job Details: Level: Entry, Job Location: High Point Community Center - Seattle, WA 98126, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $22.00 - $25.30 Hourly, Position Type: Part-time, non-exempt (hourly, eligible for overtime)

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Starting pay: $22.00/hr.

Full Pay Range: $22.00-25.30/hr. (the employee in this position could earn up to $25.30/hr. with additional years of employment)

Location: High Point Community Center - 6920 34th Ave SW, Seattle, WA 98126

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday during after-school hours, up to 23 hours per week during the school year
• May work summers as well
• Due to your schedule, you can work some or all of these days; please let us know
• Schedules may vary based on availability and program needs

School-Age Care Counselor Duties:

• Assists and leads in the application of daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5-12 years old.
• Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth.
• Helps ensure a ratio of 1:10 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and always accounted for.
• Collaborates with and supports fellow School-Age Care staff and receives guidance, coaching, and direction from the ARC School-Age Care Director.

School-Age Care Counselor Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.
• MMR vaccination record, tuberculosis (TB) testing, MERIT Portable Background Check, and Washington State Food Worker Card are required after being hired as required by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). (ARC will assist you through these requirements and pay the fees associated with the TB testing.)
