Job summary

Associated Recreation Council (ARC) is hiring a School-Age Care Counselor to supervise and guide a classroom of children aged 5–12 after school, focusing on engaging activities, safety, and inclusive learning.

The role collaborates with ARC staff and follows guidance from the School-Age Care Director to deliver a supportive, educational after-school environment at Seattle-area sites.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.
• MMR vaccination record, tuberculosis (TB) testing, MERIT Portable Background Check, and Washington State Food Worker Card are required after being hired as required by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF). (ARC will assist you through these requirements and pay the fees associated with the TB testing.)

Responsibilities

• Assists and leads in the application of daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5-12 years old.
• Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth.
• Helps ensure a ratio of 1:10 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and always accounted for.
• Collaborates with and supports fellow School-Age Care staff and receives guidance, coaching, and direction from the ARC School-Age Care Director.
