Job summary

Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, is hiring a part-time School-Age Care Counselor at the Jefferson Community Center in Seattle. You will supervise a classroom of 5-12 year olds, implement developmentally appropriate activities, and create a safe, inclusive after-school environment.

Starting pay is $22 per hour, with a full range up to $25.30 per hour; schedule Monday through Friday, up to 23 hours weekly during the school year and full days in

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to complete background checks and health requirements.
• Experience caring for school-age children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support developmentally appropriate activities for 5–12 year olds.
• Maintain a safe staff-to-child ratio and ensure attendance accounting.
• Collaborate with ARC staff and follow guidance from the School‑Age Care Director.
• Model positive behavior and promote social and emotional growth.

In this role, you will guide and support a classroom of children ages 5-12 by providing active supervision, implementing developmentally appropriate activities, and creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging after-school environment.Our programs provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.Location: Jefferson Community Center - 3801 Beacon Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108Schedule:This is a year-round positionMonday-Friday, after-school hours, up to 23 hours per week during the school yearUp to full day schedules during summer campsWe offer 2 to 5 day scheduled shifts based on your availabilitySchedules may vary based on availability and program needsSchool-Age Care Counselor Duties:Assists and leads in the application of daily curriculum activities with a classroom of children ages 5-12 years old.Models appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth.Helps ensure a ratio of 1:10 (staff to children) is maintained as much as possible to ensure that children are safe and always accounted for.Collaborates with and supports fellow School-Age Care staff and receives guidance, coaching, and direction from the ARC School-Age Care Director.School-Age Care Counselor Qualifications:Must be 18 years of age or older.Must have a high school diploma or other secondary education.MMR vaccination record, tuberculosis (TB) testing, MERIT Portable Background Check, and Washington State Food Worker Card are required after being hired as required by the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).
