Job summary

YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the School Age Child Care program. You will assist the Group Teacher with implementing curriculum, supervising children, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma (or equivalent), at least 16 years old, and one year of experience with children. CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required or can be obtained through the YMCA.

Qualifications

• CPR, First Aid and AED certification required (may obtain through YMCA)
• Must meet all training requirements and NYS licensing requirements
• Must pass Nationwide Criminal and Sex Offender Registry Background Screening
• High School diploma or equivalent; 16+ years of age; at least 1 year experience with children preferred

Responsibilities

• Establish positive relationships with parents, children and staff.
• Assist Group Teacher with curriculum, activities, and daily program.
• Supervise children to ensure safety and attentive monitoring.
• Support positive reinforcement and behavior guidance.
• Maintain safe and nurturing environment for children.
• Attend required staff meetings and participate in program planning.
• Assist with attendance, supply requests, and lesson plan records.
• Follow policies and participate in program days during school breaks as needed.
