Job summary

YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the YCare School Age Child Care program in New York. Under supervision, you will help implement activities, support positive child development, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children after school.

The role emphasizes teamwork with the Group Teacher, site director, and families, with focus on programming, attendance tracking, and adherence to YMCA policies and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Must have CPR, First Aid and AED certification or be able to obtain through YMCA.
• Must meet NYS licensing requirements for Assistant Teacher.
• Pass a Nationwide Criminal and Sex Offender Registry background check.

Responsibilities

• Establish positive relationships with parents, children, school personnel and staff.
• Assist Group Teacher with implementing curriculum, lesson plans, arts, crafts, activities and snacks.
• Supervise children at all times and keep them safe.
• Assist with positive reinforcement and disciplinary needs of children.
