Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking an experienced HVAC controls engineer. You will create control algorithms, download code to controllers, and manage system databases. You will integrate multiple systems so that various protocols communicate through a single front end for multiple platforms.

You will perform start-ups, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of BAS controls and mechanical systems. A strong background in HVAC and IP networks is essential, along with mentoring colleagues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience with Siemens Apogee and Desigo.
• Strong HVAC knowledge from unitary systems to central plants.
• IP networks troubleshooting and basics.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, engineering applications, and automated control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Create control algorithms, download source code to controllers, manage system databases, and implement an animated front‑end graphical user interface.
• Integrate multiple systems, enabling different protocols to communicate and share information with a single front end for multiple platforms.
• Execute project start‑ups, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of installed BAS controls and mechanical systems.
• Coordinate network drops, IP addresses, and monitoring tools with customers’ IT departments.
• Work with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols, encryption, and database requirements for integration.
• Generate semi‑complex reports to analyze system operation and demonstrate consistency with the contracted scope of work.
• Participate in final inspection and testing, assure customer acceptance, and conduct end‑user training.
• Provide plans and control‑system documents for as‑built drawings using the latest digital technology.
• Mentor other specialists who may need specific automation or HVAC product knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience with Siemens Apogee and Desigo.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems – from unitary systems to central plants.
• Troubleshooting skills for distinguishing HVAC from computer/controller issues.
• General understanding of IP networks.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Knowledge of object‑oriented programming (Java, C++).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD (a plus).
• Familiarity with BACnet, LonWorks, Tridium Niagara, Direct Digital Controls, Honeywell Webs, Modbus, Alerton, Johnson Controls FX, Staefa, Solidyne, Andover Controls, Siemens, and Schneider (preferred).

Compensation Range

$63.00 - $83.00 per hour
