Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Scheduler Special Procedure to coordinate highly complex invasive case scheduling within EPIC. You will verify orders, insurance eligibility and block time while educating offices and surgeons to ensure accurate case requests.

You will ensure CMS, JCAHO and HIPAA compliance, protect patients from unanticipated financial impacts, and advocate for patient safety and quality outcomes in every schedule.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate, GED or 3 years relevant experience.
• Experience: 2 years' experience in scheduling/registration/insurance verification in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Schedule procedures and generate hospital accounts following established policies.
• Review and analyze orders to optimize scheduling of highly complex invasive cases.
• Educate offices, surgeons and staff on accurate case requests and block time management.
• Ensure procedures have appropriate insurance to protect patients from financial impact.
• Adhere to CMS, JCAHO and HIPAA requirements when creating hospital accounts.

Description

Follows established policies and procedures, gathers and records all necessary information in the process of scheduling procedures and generating a hospital account. Responsible for reviewing and analyzing orders to ensure patients are optimized to proceed with needed procedure to accurately schedule highly complex invasive cases and appointments within multiple applications within EPIC. Educates offices, surgeons, and other support staff how to accurately complete case requests and manage their block time. Ensures procedures being scheduled have the appropriate insurance to protect patients from unanticipated financial impacts. Advocates for patient safety and quality outcomes by confirming surgical credentialing is aligned with procedure being scheduled. Recognizes and adheres to all CMS, JCAHO, and HIPAA requirements when creating a hospital account. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate, GED or 3 years relevant experience.
Experience: (2) two years' experience or equivalent with scheduling and/or registration and/or insurance verification in a healthcare setting
