Responsibilities

  • Schedule patients for office visits and procedures (via phone or in person).
  • Maintain physicians' schedules for visits and procedures.
  • Take triage call messages for medical staff.
  • Review patient visit notes to identify problems, diagnoses and physician orders.
  • Assist with patient registration and financial transactions.
  • May schedule radiology/lab and recall appointments.
  • Assist check-in and check-out of patients.
  • Assist with collecting payments and reconciling charges.
  • File and scan patient charts in EMR.
  • Prepare patient charts in advance and scan documents.

Austin Gastroenterology is seeking an experienced Scheduler II - Float.

Position purpose

Schedule patients for office visit and procedure appointments.

To support patient care, this position requires flexibility to work at different clinic locations.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
  • Assist with high call volume
  • Maintain physicians schedules – scheduling office visits and procedures (may be done via phone or face-to-face)
  • Take triage call messages for medical staff
  • View patient visit notes, identifying problems & diagnosis listed and physician orders
  • Assist in patient registration and financial transactions
  • May schedule radiology/lab
  • May include recall scheduling
  • Assist with high call volume
  • Maintain physicians schedules – scheduling office visits and procedures (may be done via phone or face-to-face)
  • Take triage call messages for medical staff
  • View patient visit notes, identifying problems & diagnosis listed and physician orders
  • Assist in patient registration and financial transactions

  • Assist with check-in patients upon arrival at the office as well as check-out upon departure.
  • Assist in collecting patient and insurance payments and reconcile charges on a daily basis.
  • File records in appropriate sections of patient charts in EMR.
  • Prepare patient charts in advance and scan documents into charts in EMR.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

2-5 years of prior medical scheduling is preferred

Requirements For Level II Status
  • Intermediate experience (4+ years’ experience) and/or acting more independently,
  • Takes on some additional duties to assist the office.
  • Strong and consistent performer.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
