Job summary

SouthCoast Health is seeking a Full-Time Scheduler for the Cardiology Department to efficiently arrange patient appointments and manage scheduling workflows. The role involves coordinating with providers, staff, and patients, and ensuring accurate demographic data in the scheduling system.

Responsibilities include confirming appointments, relaying messages, and assisting with non-clinical duties as needed by the Supervisor. Prior switchboard or medical office experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and at least 1 year in a medical office/Imaging department setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Word processing and computer experience.
  • Prefer prior switchboard operations experience.

Responsibilities

  • Make and schedule patient appointments efficiently and timely.
  • Book, coordinate and reschedule patient appointments; relay messages to staff.
  • Schedule new and existing patients with providers; arrange interpreter/translation if needed.
  • Collect and verify patient demographics; update patient profile in the system.
  • Maintain physician schedules to ensure accurate appointment confirmations.
  • Answer telephones, screen calls, and provide general information.
  • Address questions about appointments and outpatient scheduling.
  • Update master schedule daily and notify provider or nurse of changes.
  • Perform or assist with other non-clinical duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

SouthCoast Is Looking for a Full-Time A Scheduler For Our Cardiology Department

Responsible for making and scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner.

Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and speak concisely.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with all levels of personnel, patients, and patients' families.
  • Ability in using multi-line telephone system.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for making and scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Books, coordinates and reschedules patient appointments. Relays necessary messages to staff.
  • Schedules new and existing patients with provider. If an interpreter or translation service is needed, arrangements will be made and documented in the scheduling system.
  • Collects and verifies patient demographic information and updates patient profile in the computer.
  • Maintains and updates current information on physician's schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Answers telephones, screens calls, and provides general information.
  • Answers questions regarding patient appointments and schedules outpatient appointments.
  • Ensures that updates (cancellations or additions) are input daily into master schedule and provider or nurse are notified, if appropriate.
  • Performs or assists with other non-clinical duties, as assigned by the Supervisor.
Education/Experience

High School Diploma. At least one year work experience in a medical office/Imaging department setting. Prefer prior switchboard operations experience. Knowledge of medical terminology desired. Word processing and computer experience.
