Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a Centralized Scheduler in Fairhaven, MA, offering a 32-hour week with a day-shift, hybrid schedule at the Southcoast Business Center. You will enter orders, pre-register patients, verify insurance, and manage patient liability while coordinating with OR and other departments to ensure smooth scheduling.

The role requires a related degree (associates) or equivalent, a Medical Terminology certificate, and strong customer service with proficiency in payer portals;

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in a related field or equivalent; Bachelor's preferred.
• Certificate in Medical Terminology is required; coding experience is preferred.
• Strong keyboard skills with ability to type 40 words per minute.
• Proven exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate with physicians, patients and third-party payers.
• Proficient with navigating multiple payer portals and web-based tools.
• Over three years of healthcare experience focusing on revenue cycle activities is preferred.
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred.
• Position involves answering phone calls consistently; time management and multitasking.
• Vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 or approved exemption with consent.

Responsibilities

• Enter orders and schedule/cancel/reschedule appointments and surgeries.
• Complete full pre-registration incl. demographics and insurance verification.
• Determine patient liability for self-pay/out-of-network and notify patients.
• Obtain required prior authorizations for out-of-network payers.
• Monitor Medical Necessity compliance and Status C for surgical cases.
• Coordinate with OR and ancillary departments to avoid scheduling conflicts.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding for medical necessity requirements.

We are searching for a talented Centralized Scheduler

Hours: 32 hrs

Shift: Day shift; 8:00am - 4:30pm and 8:30am - 5:00pm rotating

Location: Southcoast Business Center – Fairhaven, MA; position will follow a hybrid schedule

Responsibilities

Under direction of Pt Access TL & Manager or designee, perform a wide variety of duties to secure optimal revenue for services performed at Southcoast facilities. Duties consist of entering orders, scheduling/cancelling/rescheduling appointments and surgeries, completing a full pre-registration including documenting demographic and verifying insurance information. Determining patient liability prior to service on self-pay and out of network patients by creating estimate based on individual payer and notifying patients of their potential liability in accordance with Federal & State regulations and collect payment electronically. Obtains required prior authorization for out of network payers prior to scheduling. Monitor for Medical Necessity compliance and Status C review on surgical cases. Works closely with OR and Ancillary depts to ensure continuity of care and to avoid scheduling conflicts. Knowledgeable in CPT & ICD10 coding for medical necessity requirements.

• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.
• Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.

Pay Range

USD $18.88 - USD $30.44 /Hr.
