Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years hospital experience as Pharmacy Technician.
• Virginia Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy intern license; BLS within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Calculates patient-specific doses from mg/m2 or mg/kg dosing.
• Manages IV admixture/chemotherapy supplies to avoid stockouts and excess inventory.
• Initiates safe disposal of hazardous materials, sharps, and trash.
• Follows IV Admixture procedures using aseptic technique and maintains documentation.
• Prepares IV admixture and sterile compounding with minimal contamination.

Schar Infusion Pharmacy Technician Job Responsibilities

• Handles chemotherapy without causing chemotherapy spills, aerosolization of drug or other self, others, or environmental exposures.
• Calculates patient specific doses from scratch based on mg/m2 or mg/kg dosing accurately and consistently with 0 to minimal chemotherapy exposures of self, others, environment.
• Assess and reorders IV admixture/chemotherapy preparation supplies as appropriate avoiding stockouts and excess inventory.
• Initiates, without prompting, actions necessary to assure safe disposal of all hazardous materials, sharps, and general trash.
• Follows IV Admixture procedures including using aseptic technique in preparation of medication, calculations, maintenance of clean area, and complete documentation.
• Prepares IV Admixture and sterile compounding as evidenced by the lack of contamination in test solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED.
• Experience: Two (2) years of hospital experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Certification : Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: IV or Infusion experience.
