The University of South Alabama’s Theater and Dance Department is seeking to hire a Scene Shop Specialist on the Mobile campus. This role oversees technical production elements for University productions, designs scenery, lighting, and supports student designers.
Essential duties include serving as Technical Director, supervising shop staff, coordinating with faculty and guest artists, and maintaining budgets, inventories, and safety standards.
Bachelor’s degree in theater or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accredited by the University of South Alabama and two years of theater scenery construction and operations experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess an understanding of set and lighting design and drafting of scenery which requires the use of various hand tools.
