Job summary

The University of New Orleans seeks a data analyst for the OPH-Bureau of Family Health to interpret, validate, and evaluate health data using SAS, R and SQL, supporting the Louisiana SCD Registry.

You will collaborate across agencies, ensure data quality, develop reports, and assist with grant-related activities. Strong analytic and communication skills required; a bachelor’s degree and relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience performing administrative functions within an office environment or health care field.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.
• Great attention to detail and follow up.
• Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
• Proficient in the use of Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Interpret, analyze, validate, and evaluate data using statistical computer programs.
• Explore new datasets; identify data quality issues and determine when to escalate.
• Conduct routine data linkages and collaborate with various health agencies to enhance data systems and analytics.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of data per regulations.
• Serve as resident data and evaluation expert for the Louisiana SCD Registry.
• Analyze data using SAS, R or similar software and SQL to extract and analyze data for requests and reports.
• Design and implement evaluation of the Louisiana SCD Registry; manage data quality improvement.
• Assist with grant-related activities; coordinate reporting with funders.
• Coordinate reporting for the Louisiana SCD Registry and respond to data requests.
• Provide technical assistance to professionals in government, academia, health care, and community projects.
