Job summary

The University of New Orleans is seeking an experienced data systems specialist to support the LA EHDI-IS program within the Office of Public Health. You will help maintain and enhance the system, collaborate on quality assessments, and train multiple stakeholders across hospitals and partner agencies.

Responsibilities include verifying data accuracy, monthly monitoring of hospital entries, compiling scorecards, and presenting findings to the advisory council.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree plus 3 years of professional experience, or 6 years of professional work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in data systems management and data monitoring.
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience with newborn screening, EHDI programs, or maternal and child health systems.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills; effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Great attention to detail and follow up.
  • Ability to manage projects, assignments, and competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Zoom, Teams, and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintenance, enhancement, and evaluation of LA EHDI-IS program for the Office of Public Health’s BFH.
  • Collaborates with the Epidemiologist in conducting quality assessments and use of evaluation results.
  • Assists with enhancements/transitions in LA EHDI-IS, including testing of data transfer and training for users.
  • Verifies newborn hearing screening data for completeness, accuracy, and timely entry.
  • Monitors birth hospitals’ data entries monthly and provides feedback on missing or inaccurate data.
  • Provides LA EHDI-IS training to supervisors, audiologists, hospital personnel, and partner agency users.
  • Compiles, reviews, and assesses monthly, quarterly, and annual hospital screening data and communicates results.
  • Generates hospital scorecards and rankings for hearing screening personnel and leadership.
  • Conducts remediation activities with hospitals as needed and presents results to advisory council.
  • Reviews policies for adherence to Joint Committee on Infant Hearing recommendations and supports on-site trainings.
