Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Associates degree with 3 years professional experience, or 6 years professional experience in lieu of the degree.
• Minimum 1 year professional experience in disease intervention and prevention activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Conducts surveillance activities to detect cases, identify trends, and institute appropriate intervention and follow-up control measures.
• Supports Regional Epidemiologist on all epidemiologic activities in assigned region.
• Completes disease case reports in assigned regions.
• Establishes rapport with local hospital infection control staff.
• Leads follow-up activities for specific diseases at state and local levels.
• Monitors parish health units and hospitals conducting surveillance activities and provides data quality feedback.
• Analyzes surveillance data for trends and prepares summary reports for state and national databases.
