Job summary

Marion County Public Works is seeking a Scale Attendant to serve as the first point of contact for customers at our disposal sites. You will greet visitors, operate a computerized scale system, issue tickets, handle payments, and maintain accurate records while delivering strong customer service in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities include weighing vehicles, issuing weight tickets, collecting fees and making change, balancing paperwork, and assisting with incident command training

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; preferably with landfill/scale site exposure.
One year of experience in public relations, money handling and basic use of computer.
Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position.

Responsibilities

Operate a computerized scale system, issue weight tickets, and collect fees.
Balance paperwork and complete deposits as assigned.
Answer phones, use a Visa/MC authorization terminal, and assist customers.
Maintain cleanliness of scale deck, booth, and surrounding area.
Climb onto vehicles to inspect loads and ensure proper grading and safety.
Support EOC activities and incident command training as needed.
