Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking two Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Communications Technicians to support 24/7 data communications between field sites and the Operations Control Center, serving Seattle and surrounding regions.

The roles involve installing, calibrating, and maintaining SCADA hardware and software across water, wastewater, and solid waste lines, with on-call responsibilities and on-site work five days per week.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years' experience in installation, maintenance, repair, and testing of electronic communications equipment and instruments.
  • Experience with process instrumentation and control equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with installing, programming and maintaining PLCs.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and network communications equipment is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Work across SPU lines of business supporting the SCADA hardware and software components of the system.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain drainage and wastewater field instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Assist in building and operating SCADA telecommunication systems and field equipment.
  • Create input/update wiring diagrams, schematics, prints, as-builts and other documentation.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment including flow monitors and rain gauge sensors.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support to promptly repair malfunctioning SCADA components.
