Job summary

San Bernardino Municipal Water Department is hiring a Senior Control Systems and Communication Technician to lead and perform journey-level tasks in planning, design, implementation, calibration, and testing of SCADA, RF/fiber telecom, and water plant process control systems. The successful candidate will have PLC programming experience, HMI software proficiency, and relevant certifications.

The role may involve training teammates and supervising contractor work, with on-call responsibilities as

Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience with proprietary HMI software packages.
Proficient in design and operation of supervisory control systems and related systems.
Associate Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Instrumentation and Control Systems with 2+ years of PLC experience.
Or High School diploma with 4 years of experience in supervisory control systems including PLC programming.
Trade/Military Technical School graduation with 3 years of supervisory control systems experience including PLC programming.
License/Certificate: ISA Grade I Certified Control Systems Technician or CWEA Grade III Instrumentation certificate is desirable.

Responsibilities

Plan, design, implement, calibrate, test, and modify supervisor control systems and related telecom and field telemetry.
Oversee inspections of work by contractors and may train crew members.
Respond to emergencies and participate in standby/on-call rotations when required.
