Job summary

The City of Santa Clara Water & Sewer Utilities Department seeks a skilled technician to understand and perform installation, operation and routine maintenance of pumping plants, SCADA RTUs, valves, and related appurtenances across water, wastewater and storm water systems.

The incumbent may work in Water or Sewer Utility, exercising independent judgment, and may be required to respond to emergency maintenance, weekends or on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of construction, operations or maintenance experience in a water or wastewater agency, with at least one year in pump-related maintenance.
• Valid California Class C driver's license required.
• CWEA Mechanical Technologist Certificate (Grade 1), CWEA Collection System Maintenance Certificate (Grade 1), and CWEA Water Distribution System Operator (Grade D1) must be obtained by appointment.
• Must be able to work shift, weekends, unusual hours in emergency situations and be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain SCADA RTUs, pumps, valves and related equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance on water and wastewater pumping facilities.
• Monitor and adjust system pressures, and ensure safe operation of pumping plants.
• Complete reports and logs for system performance and maintenance activities.
