Job summary

City of Peoria, Arizona is seeking an experienced Automation Technician to maintain and optimize electrical, instrumentation, PLC, and SCADA systems for water and wastewater facilities. You will troubleshoot, program, and commission complex systems across multiple sites.

The ideal candidate has hands-on PLC/HMI programming skills, strong documentation abilities, and a deep understanding of electrical safety and maintenance. ADEQ certifications and a valid AZ Driver’s License are required.

Qualifications

Two-year college program, apprenticeship, or equivalent combinations resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge or skills.
Must have 2 years’ experience in advanced instrumentation and electrical controls technologies.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of electrical safety and troubleshooting abilities for voltages up to 12,470 VAC.
Must have demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and develop control system programming including PLCs and HMIs.

Responsibilities

Perform skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, programming, testing, and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, automation, PLC, and SCADA systems for water and wastewater treatment plants and remote sites.
Possess extensive knowledge of complex SCADA software and hardware systems, PLC programming, process instrumentation, and industrial communications.
